On this day... Thoughts & Things

Leisure Reading

I love to read, so I try to make time daily for reading. I have a wide range of interests, such as what I call mindless entertainment. You know the kind that helps you relax and get your mind off things. It just entertains, makes me feel good, and I don’t have to try to figure it out. I like to read those books in the evening before I go to sleep because it clears my brain of the busyness of the day. I am also a sucker for a good love story, especially those with happy endings.

In the morning, besides my Bible, I like to read enrichment books, or self help, if you will. These are the books that help me grow as a professional and as a person. These books get me to thinking and help me put stuff into perspective.

Then there is poetry. I love to read poems throughout the day. I will read a few in the morning between the Bible and an enrichment book, when I take a break a work, when I am waiting at the doctor’s office, when I am checking emails, or when I have a few minutes to spare. Poetry inspires me and moves me.
