If you have ever been to Europe, you will see that they do not have separate liquor stores like we do. They sell hard liquor right in the grocery store. You can buy milk, bread, and a bottle of Jack all in one stop. It sure does cut down the errand runs, especially when bad weather is coming.
When I visited Germany and England, and of course, spoke in my native southern accent, I was asked where I am from, and when I say Tennessee, the first thing I hear is, oh that is where Jack Daniel’s is made.
Yes, Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Whiskey is made in the same place where it started, next to the mineral-rich Cave Spring Hollow in Lynchburg, Tennessee. It got its start towards the end of the American Civil War, when Jasper “Jack” Daniel introduced his signature charcoal-mellowed Tennessee Whiskey, known across the world as Old No. 7. He learned the art of whiskey making from a preacher, who took him in, and an enslaved man, who later became his head distiller.
Today, the iconic whiskey is popular worldwide. I can attest that Old No. 7, and their other signature flavors, are prominently displayed in the liquor aisle of grocery stores across Germany and the UK.
